Christopher Guest’s New Film To Mock Collectors

The high priest of improvisational mockumentary cinema Christopher Guest is working with his regular cohorts and Spinal Tap bandmates Harry Shearer and Michael McKean on a new film, according to a recent tweet by another of his regular collaborators, actress Parker Posey:

The story was broken by The Women Of The Web who wrote:

Now we hear that Guest, Shearer and McKean are putting their heads together to make a movie about the world of retro collectors; people who ferret out such things as old comic books, Barbie dolls, vintage magazine ads, vinyl 45-rpm singles, or even – ick! – Charles Manson song lyrics written on Kleenex. There’s a massive underground of collectors who would do the Borgia’s proud as they scheme and double-cross to possess the item they crave. (Those who collect movie star memorabilia can be especially treacherous.)

If it is as good as Guest’s other film based on obsessive subcultures, Best in Show, we’ve got something to look forward to. Here’s a few golden moments from the 2000 film that follows five entrants at the prestigious Mayflower Kennel Club Dog Show – just to give you a few lols as you wittle away the hours until 5pm.
