It was just two weeks ago that Harry Shearer announced via Twitter that he was quitting The Simpsons. Considering he voices what some might consider vital characters to the show – Mr. Burns, Smithers, Ned Flanders, Reverend Lovejoy, Otto, Dr Hibbert, Lenny, Scratchy, and Kent Brockman, to throw some familiar names at you – his loss would be detrimental to a perfectly cromulent show.
Enter voiceover artist Brock Baker, who’s decided to save Springfield from multi-character death syndrome* by demonstrating his flawless ability to impersonate Shearer’s characters, including an alien Mr Burns and an all-too-short rendition of ‘See my vest’.
Whether his audition to replace Shearer is a serious one is TBD, but auditioning via YouTube for a major TV show? What a time to be alive.
If the previously-irreplaceable Shearer decides to definitely not return to Springfield (and FYI the jury’s still out), then this guy could well be it.
*Not a scientifically backed disease. Also, producer Al Jean shut down any fears of a Game of Thrones level character slaughter.
