What The Actual Feline Shit Is Going On In This First Look At ‘Cats’?

That wild, wild movie adaptation of the hit musical Cats is well and truly underway and we’ve just copped our first peek and honestly, I have even more questions about this film now than I did before.

The studio just dropped a behind-the-scenes look inside, featuring an enlarged set and lots of intense slow-mo dancing.

It starts off with the stars of the flick gushing about their penchant for music, which is a weird beat in and of itself, including Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Swift, JAYsonnnnn Derulo and Dame Judy Dench, as they prepare to take on their roles as talking pussycat people.

Director Tom Hooper then gives his insight into the flick including this cooked little nugget:

“We’ve used digital fur technology to create the most perfect covering of fur,” he says.

Repeat that again in your minds: Digital. Fur. Technology.

What new age MADNESS is this?

“When I first heard I was going to be in Cats, instantly I felt the pressure,” Hudson declares as the music becomes a dark and haunting orchestral score, a strange vibe when we’re legit talking about a litter of cats frolicking in a garbage bin.

The featurette also sees Rebel Wilson, Idris Elba and Sir Ian McKellen join forces to cough up furballs.

“These are people but they’re cats and this is kind of blowing my mind,” talkshow host James Corden concludes and honest to god, same, James. Same.

Have a go at the absolutely ratchet first look below:

The premise of the film is as follows:

Over a single night, a tribe of cats called the Jellicles make what is known as ‘the Jellicle choice’ and decide which cat will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new life.

Cats is slated for a Boxing Day 2019 release and believe me when I say that my Christmas hangover is looking forward to it.
