Just when you may have forgotten about the Cats trailer, the cursed film is back in the headlines.

Taylor Swift and Andrew Lloyd Weber have collaborated on a new song for the film called “Beautiful Ghosts”. It’ll apparently appear three (3!) times in the film, first performed by the character Victoria (Francesca Hayward), followed by Judi Dench‘s Old Deuteronomy, and then Swift will sing it over the credits.

Webber’s Cats is based on T.S. Eliot‘s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats. I won’t chuck in the synopsis, you have the delightful trailer for that. On paper the movie sounds pretty good. Along with Swift, Dench, and Hayward, it also stars Jennifer HudsonIdris ElbaJason DeruloIan McKellen, Rebel Wilson, and James Corden. It’s directed by Oscar-winning director Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech) and features the choreography of Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton).

But the trailer – the trailer… if anything, it’s just weird. The likes to dislike ratio on YouTube, though – 114,000 likes to 300,000 dislikes.

Anyway, Universal Pictures dropped a little snippet of the new song. You can listen to it below.

Having an original song absolutely means Cats is gunning for that best original song Oscar. With the names attached to the movie, it’ll probably cop a nomination. Stay tuned.

And now, the trailer:

Cats hits cinemas Thursday, 26 December. Merry Christmas.
