Beavis & Butthead’s Return Draws 3 Million US Viewers

Beavis and Butthead returned to MTV last night after nearly fifteen years to an audience of over three million in the US.

Mike Judge‘s classic slacker cartoon, which features two boys who never make it past the mental age of fourteen was hugely popular in the ’90s and its removal left a void currently being filled by various permutations of Jersey Shore. Judge, who has since gone on to create King Of The Hill and direct cult classic Office Space, acknowledged the irony that his characters were ‘still virgins and you have 16 and Pregnant on the same network.’ Rumours are that Daria, who featured in the original run of the series before having her own cult spin-off, may also make a return in Season 9, and Judge has already confirmed that he has many of MTV’s reality series in his sights for the boys to make fun of.

Of course, because America still doesn’t believe that Australians might want to watch something in real time, the show’s stream is restricted outside of the US. In the meantime, here’s a fantastic ‘glossary’ of Beavis and Butthead terminology that should get you right up to speed in case you weren’t making boob jokes in 1993 like the rest of us.

Later, buttwipes.
