The guy that every single girl between the ages of 13 and 19 had a crush on back in 2004, Ben McKenzie, will play the lead in Fox’s new series Gotham.
The Batman-themed drama will follow Ryan (ahem, I mean Ben) as Detective James Gordon. Acting as a prequel to Batman, Gotham will explore the origin stories of the character that will eventually evolve into Gary Oldman, the Commissioner Gordon that we all know and love.
In Gotham, Gordon is an idealistic rookie detective for Gotham City Open Police Department’s Homicide Squad, a former college football star and war hero (good on you Ryan, you did alright). He will hunt down some of Gotham City’s most notable villains and also hang out with a teenage Bruce Wayne, before he turns into Christian Bale/Ben Affleck/Adam West.
