I am a simple person, I see a baby ANYTHING and my heart swells up and I die. So Baby Yoda has absolutely destroyed me. It is the breakout star of Disney’s The Mandalorian, it is the only thing getting me through the rest of this year, it is so fucking cute.

If you’ve yet to watch The Mandalorian (my colleague David) but can’t escape the memes, the series is set after the fall of the Empire and chronicles the tale of an excellent bounty hunter, played by Pedro Pascal. Also, there’s a creature in it who the internet has fondly nicknamed Baby Yoda.
Deborah Chow, who directed “the best episode yet” episode three (all are very good), told USA TODAY that renowned director and actor Werner Herzog is also obsessed with Baby Yoda.
Herzog plays the client who hires the Mandalorian to track down the little bb.
“I think one of the weirdest directing moments I’ve had was directing Werner and the baby, was very, very weird,” she said. “I had a moment on set, I literally think that he had forgotten that it’s not a real-live creature and he had fallen in love with it and he was talking to it like it’s a real creature and he was interacting with it.”
Like Herzog, a lot of the world is equally in love with the tiny Yoda-looking-thing. Sure, there’s plenty of speculation as to who Baby Yoda actually is but until we find out, we have memes. A lot of memes.
