Australian Holiday Won On ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ Ends In Skydive Tragedy

An Australian holiday won on daytime TV’s The Ellen DeGeneres Show has ended in tragedy for an Ohio couple, after a skydiving accident resulted in the death of a man in Euroa, regional Victoria.

Cherilyn McGraw
won a holiday to Australia on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in January. Cherilyn, having not skydived before, jumped in tandem with an instructor, but her husband, recently returned Afghanistan veteran Gunnery Sgt. Brandon McGraw was an experienced skydiver, and chose to jump alone. An employee of the skydive company involved told the Jacksonville Daily News “McGraw watched his wife do a tandem jump before exiting the plane. He floated for three or four minutes with a good canopy. A short time before landing, he suddenly began turning his parachute dramatically to the left and right and eventually crashed into the ground.” McGraw, 33, was in cardiac arrest when paramedics arrived, but could not be resuscitated and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Cherilyn McGraw this week posted the final photos taken of her husband on Facebook, along with the following message:

“My hero. My angel. These are truly such symbolic photos. He was happy and doing what he loved. It’s amazing all that photos can capture in a moments time. The last 2 photos taken. I love you more than anything in the world, honey. You are the most amazing man.
