And The Logie Goes To: Jordan Raskopoulos?

Comedian and actor Jordan Raskopoulos has created an almighty stir within the local TV industry by daring to take a swipe at our homegrown night of nights, The TV Week Logies. On the back of his supporting role in Underground: The Julian Assange Story, Raskopoulos has launched a campaign to snare himself a Best Actor Logie by offering voters the chance to help him write his acceptance speech.

Proclaiming himself as a no-name actor – not really true, but we’ll get to that later – a win, or even a nomination for Raskopoulos would confirm the flimsy structure of the Logie voting system which has encouraged networks to dedicate their time and resources to winning the glorified popularity contest rather then concentrating on producing quality content. The cringe-worthy and cheesy Today Tonight appearance aside, we’re always partial to a bit of shit stirring and while we have plenty of great industry professionals who deserve a night of recognition, the scam-tainted Logies haven’t really earned the right to take themselves so seriously.

If you want at least one reason to watch the Logies this year, you can vote for Raskopoulos here.

If you thought that the self professed no-name actor looked pretty familiar than you’re probably right as Roskopoulos earned the ‘Aussie Jack Black’ tag fronting comedy rock trio The Axis Of Awesome. Their Four Chord Song has earned 40 million+ hits on YouTube and seen them tour the world. Roskopoulos also starred in the cult sketch comedy show The Ronnie Johns Half Hour as well as being a regular on the Australian variety show circuit.
