The ‘Rick & Morty’ Team Finally Tried The Szechuan Sauce & It’s Good Shit

By now, you’re probably all fully aware of the great quest for the Mulan Szechuan McNugget dipping sauce that Rick & Morty embarked upon at the beginning of their (insanely good) third season.

A throwaway gag in episode one sparked a voracious search for the limited-time-only dipping sauce that appeared sometime in 1998 and disappeared around the time the advertising campaign for Mulan ceased.

McDonald’s, the benevolent champions that they are, reached through the space-time continuum and rescued a handful of bottles of the good gear from the throes of the late 90s, hauling them into the present day and entrusting them to a select few, including Justin Roiland and the associated Rick & Morty crew.

Though there’s been speculation and reminiscing about what the sauce actually tastes like (as well as plenty of attempts to re-create it at home), the question has remained a mystery. Until today.

Roiland and the crew behind the series cracked open the bottle a short while ago, documenting the resulting Nug Party for all to see.

The verdict? It’s sugary as hell, but it’s still the good shit, baby. The good, good, real good shit.

Sweet jesus, this is practically porn.

The show’s writing staff also got in on the action, with the result of tastiness almost unanimous.

Roiland himself captured the whole event on camera, and sent a special shout out to the Golden Arches’ mythical Chef Mike.

‘Course it wouldn’t be a Rick & Morty nugget-fest without a controversial plot twist…

Then again, there’s an alternate universe out there where Roiland has heard of Mulan and doesn’t have the McNugget sauce. So, y’know, probably just be glad we’re in this one.

The journey is now complete. What a bloody ride.
