Sweet Garlicy Jesus, It Looks Like El Jannah Is Bringing Its Holy Chook To Newtown

Friends, there are some mornings where I am blessed with the ability to use the great platform of PEDESTRIAN.TV to inform you all of life changing news, and today is one of those days: El Jannah appears to be headed to Newtown.

The legendary charcoal chicken hot spot previously had locations in Granville, Kogarah, Blacktown, Campbelltown, Penrith, and Punchbowl – all a fair drive from central Sydney and, if you are so unlucky, demonstrably far away from the north shore and northern beaches.

Now, an El Jannah “Express” sign has been spotted on Newtown’s famous King Street, kicking off swarms of excitement and a hurried rush to reposition the fabled Sydney chicken curtain.

The King Street location will be El Jannah’s first “express” store, focusing on more of a takeaway style. There will be a few stools available to sit down on, but for the most part this is a get-your-delicious-chicken-and-go kinda joint.

A spokesperson for El Jannah said they’re hoping to open the store in three to four weeks (“worst case scenario six”), and it will be available to order on UberEats as soon as its up and running. Prices will be the same as they are at ever El Jannah location.

“We’ve always said we would have the same pricing no matter where we are,” said the spokesperson.
