If you’ve got plans this weekend, you’d better cancel them because there’s a god damn Chicken Nugget festival coming to Melbourne.

Northcote’s dedicated food truck park Welcome To Thornbury will transform into nugget central on Saturday, October 26.

Now I know what you’re thinking, nuggets are pretty boring. Why not just go to your local McDonalds and grab a ten pack with some sweet and sour sauce? Well folks, the Chicken Nugget Festival is more than just nuggets. You can get nuggets in a bak, on a pizza or even with doughnuts. Not to mention, there will be more sauces than you can dip a nugget into.

The annual Chicken Nugget festival is returning to Welcome To Thornbury for the third year in a row, featuring nugget Philly cheesesteaks, nugget burritos and nugget-donut hybrids.

If you need to quench your thirst after a fully-fledged nugget binge, you can rest assured that there will be cocktails and beers aplenty.

The lineup of food trucks includes Mr Burger, Donugs, Woking Amazing, Pizza Pony, Mamma Van and Sparrow’s Philly Cheesesteaks. *salivates profusely*

The festival also caters for those of us that prefer a chicken-free nugget, with a variety of vegan and vegetarian options too.

Nuggets are often referred to as a childish food, and you’ll probably get some judgemental looks if you’re ordering them at the pub above the age of 11, but Chicken Nugget Festival is a judgement-free zone for all of us with childish tastebuds. Woo!

Last year’s event saw over 10,000 guests consume a whopping 50,000 nuggets, and this year’s festival is set to break that record. So trust me when I say, there will be a whole lot of nuggets.

The festival of chicken finger-food kicks off on Saturday at midday and will run all weekend long, baby.

And the best part? It’s free. Yep. Zero dollary-doos. Nada. Nonezo.

Chicken Nugget Festival runs from midday until 10pm Saturday October 26 and Sunday October 27. Kids and dogs are welcome too, so you’ve literally got no excuse not to get your nug on.
