Yesterday, Ariana Grande dropped the breakup bop to end all breakup bops ‘Thank U, Next’ and it low-key obliterated the internet.

Despite the song’s v. shady exterior, Grande maintains that it was not intended as a diss track but more so as an anthem of growth and renewal.
“no drags…. no shade….. jus love, gratitude, acceptance, honesty, forgiveness … and growth,” she tweeted.
“i’m so …. fuckin ….. grateful,” she adds. “for my …… ex.”

Backing up the vibe that it’s more of a tribute than a hate song, Grande responded to a fan and revealed that two of her exes Big Sean and Ricky Alvarez heard the track before it came out.
“they heard it before it came out,” she wrote.

While she confirmed that those two blokes heard the bop, I can’t help but wonder if old m8 Pete Davidson was sent the mp4 prior to its release.
On the track, Grande sings:
“Thought I’d end up with Sean / But he wasn’t a match / Wrote songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh / Even almost got married / And for Pete, I’m so thankful / Wish I could say ‘thank you’ to Malcolm / ‘Cause he was an angel.”
Despite letting Davidson off easy in the song, she recently dragged her former fiance to hell and back via Twitter after he name-dropped her on SNL.
“for somebody who claims to hate relevancy u sure love clinging to it huh,” she tweeted.
Following her savage tweet, Pete, tail between his legs, praised his ex on the latest SNL episode.
“The last thing I will say is I know some of you are curious about the breakup, but the truth is, it’s nobody’s business, and sometimes things just don’t work out. And that’s okay,” Davidson said.
“She’s a wonderful, strong person, and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world.”
