Lately, it seems like media attention has focussed solely on one half of the world’s most famous consciously uncoupled couple. Gwyneth Paltrow is happily married! But you better believe things are happening over in Chris Martin’s camp. Well, more specifically, things aren’t happening, as representatives for the Coldplay singer’s partner Dakota Johnson have confirmed the pair are not expecting to bring a new bub into the world.
People reports the Fifty Shades star has denied the speculation, after TMZ reported a celeb-filled bash at Martin’s residence featured blue and pink balloons – the go-to accessory for the gender reveal party craze.
Footage captured at the scene showed a big ol’ line of blue balloons wafting in the wind, which TMZ took to mean the pair are expecting a boy. Archaic gender norms aside, Johnson’s official statement now makes it seem like the pair, uh, just wanted heaps of balloons for their party.
The couple have dated for just over a year, and there is actual news to report on their partnership: both now serve as representatives of the Global Citizen project, an initiative designed to kerb extreme poverty around the world.
Johnson accompanied Martin to last week’s Global Citizen Festival in New York City, where he calmed a crowd which was panicking over fears of an active shooter.
This morning, she also posted an Instagram post featuring what appears to be her phone number, in order to hear womens’ stories of discrimination and abuse.
