Coldplay singer Chris Martin has reportedly split from his girlfriend, Fifty Shades Of Grey actress Dakota Johnson, after the pair dated for just under two years.
Friends of the singer say he called things off last month. An unnamed source close to the couple, who can surely be trusted to know exactly what’s going on, said:
“There was talk of engagement, but now he says they have gone their separate ways, which has come as a real surprise to everyone.”
Another source said of the relationship:
“Chris and Dakota were very easygoing and always seemed really happy together.
Chris Martin was first spotted out with Johnson at a Stella McCartney show last January. They kept things fairly low-key, but in September, they displayed matching infinity tattoos at separate events.
The pair holidayed in the Maldives with Martin’s ex Gwyneth Paltrow and her new husband Brad Falchuck. Johnson and Paltrow seemed close, even hanging out together without Martin, and Derek Blasberg posted a photo of them “consciously throupling.”
Earlier this year, Chris Martin obtained a restraining order against an obsessed fan who continually showed up at his house. He claimed that the fan was suffering “delusions” about a relationship with him and was a threat to his family and loved ones.
