This year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has been a bit of a clusterfuck so far. We’ve seen Gigi Hadid drop out, performer Katy Perry denied entry into China and several other models fail to qualify for visas. But things are looking up, with Harry Styles officially confirmed as one of the performers for the November 20 show.
Ed Razek, the show’s executive producer and creative director of Victoria’s Secret, officially announced the long-rumoured news in a statement to People.
We started booking our musical guests months ago when Harry Styles, international superstar, signed on. Also appearing are Grammy award-winning artist Miguel, Tony award-winning star of Hamilton, Leslie Odom Jr., and Chinese sensation Jane Zhang. We are incredibly thrilled to have them with us.
Looks like those who were longing for an awkward catwalk run-in between Styles and his ex Taylor Swift (who was also rumoured to perform) won’t get their wish. Full disclosure: I was one of those people.
There will be potential awkwardness for young Harold in the form of his other former flings, NZ model Georgia Fowler and Austrian babe Nadine Leopold, who are both walking in the show.
Hopefully it’s a gloriously cringey as last year’s encounter between fresh exes Bella Hadid and The Weeknd.
While he was announcing performers, Razek also touched on this year’s controversy and talk of multiple stuff-ups behind the scenes.
The news reports I’ve been reading from the US here in Shanghai regarding this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show are not an accurate reflection of what I’m seeing and experiencing on site. The event is well in hand and coming together beautifully.
