Get The Net, A Wayne’s World-Themed Pop Up Bar Is Coming To Sydney

Try not to get too over-excited about this. Remain calm. Everything’s gonna be fine. Just breathe. Breathe. Breathe…

Deep from the realm of totally freaking awesome things comes the news that Sydney is about to play host to a pop up bar that’ll be entirely, one-hundred percent, completely and totally themed according to cult favourite film Wayne’s World.
A bunch of bartenders who all used to serve tipple at Victoria Room have banded together to bring this glorious slice of 90s nostalgia to life inside both floors of Oxford Circus (ex Ruby Rabbit.)
This new, glorious, magnificent thing will transport all who walk through the doors straight to Aurora, Illinois, with the each of the two levels of the bar having different and distinct themes. The top level will feature a quieter, more “actual bar-like” space, whilst the bottom level will be completely inspired by Wayne Campbell‘s basement, with drinks served in red plastic cups, and a house band crankin’ out the tunes until 3am each night.
Beautiful masterminds behind the venture, Lee Potter Cavanagh, Ben Blair and Reece Griffith, got the cash to create the pop-up by taking out the Monkey Shoulder whisky National Bartender Competition, which carried with it a sweet little purse in the range of $20,000.
As for how they actually arrived on such a glorious theme, Cavanagh explains thusly.

We realised we all had similar upbringings, we’re all mad keen surfers, we’re all really into rock’n’roll and punk, and we all had a mutual appreciation for Wayne’s World.

The pop up bar, to be called WhiskyJerx, will open its doors at 6pm on Wednesday, February 19th.
You know what to do.
