Following Death Threats, Kimmel Attempts To Hug It Out With YouTube Gamers

Earlier this week, Jimmy Kimmel set off one of the biggest shitstorms of his hosting career to date – possibly even bigger than the time he got into it with the anti-vax crowd – when he made fun of people who watch streams of video games online.

The response was swift and severe – Jimmy began receiving numerous thumbs down votes on his YouTube videos, along with reams and reams of angry responses, and a couple of actual death threats.
He read out some of the more colourful responses he received, but when they kept coming and coming, he decided to extend a deku stick an olive branch, and invited some popular YouTube gamers on to Thursday’s episode, to show him what he’d been missing.
Jimmy met up with Mark Fischbach and Jonna Mae at Maker Studios – sporting an inexplicable Power Glove, and seeming a little testy – to try and understand why people watch streams of video games.
After watching Mae’s parents ride a Minecraft roller coaster, he then got annihilated in a game of Rocket League. “Will you tell the people not to kill me?” he asked, when the segment was done. “No,” they replied.
The whole thing was fairly painful TBH:
