Pour Out a Lone Star Tinnie: ‘True Detective’ Is Probably Finished

‘True Detective’, at least in its first season, was held up as a banner show for the golden age of TV that everyone keeps talking about. It was dark, moody and beautifully shot, and featured Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in demanding, interesting roles.

Also, this inexplicably hilarious scene, which I watch way more than I should.
Well, after the decidedly less popular and more slowly paced second season, it looks like ‘True Detective’ is no more – Vulture reports that a new season is not on the agenda over at HBO, which they gleaned from a Hollywood Reporter profile of incoming programming head Casey Bloys.
What we probably will be getting is a new TV show altogether from the show’s writer Nic Pizzolatto, who signed an exclusive deal with HBO last year. No news on what that’ll look like, but it’s probably gonna be hella dark and feature some angry dudes working out their problems.
