Since his high-profile split from wife of 21 years Cassandra Thorburn, Karl Stefanovic has been absolutely dogged by paparazzi, on a level far beyond anything he’d experienced before.
In an interview this week with Fairfax, Karl spoke about the toll that the last few months of near-constant attention have taken on his general health and well-being, saying:
“Having 20 paps on your ass for three months is not good for your health. Or anyone you are associated with. They are dangerous on the roads as well. Goes with the territory I know but it makes living hard.”
Stefanovic is dating model and designer Jasmine Yarbrough, and it’s understood he had not yet had the chance to tell his family about the new relationship when paparazzi photos surfaced showing the pair together on a yacht.
This and other things have have understandably made life difficult, and speaking to the Herald Sun last month about his marriage breakup, Stefanovic said:
“For me the only issue was the burden of paparazzi around my family in the initial months. That is regrettable, that is hard to explain to a kid and I think it is awful for kids.”
Speaking more generally about the separation, he said:
“For me personally I would definitely have failures in a husband sense and hope that I can rectify my failures as a dad … I hope I can try and rebuild whatever has happened in the past and try and make the most of what I can do with them in the future.”
