Make Economy Fancy Again With These Monogrammed Luggage Accessories

Air travel was once revered as a luxury few could afford. Heck, any kind of commercial travel used to reserved for the high class. Y’ever seen Titanic?!

Luckily nowadays, jumping on a plane and heading to some far away paradise is common practice. But that doesn’t mean you’re not entitled to make it le fancie. While you mightn’t have the moola to throw down $33,000 on a Louis Vuitton trunk, there are plenty of little luxuries you can splurge on to make your travel kit look the goods. Here are our faves.
THE DAILY EDITED

I’d hazard a guess you’ve seen pieces by The Daily Edited pop up in your Instagram feed before. TDE was founded in 2011 by Aussie bloggers Alyce Tran and Tania Liu, and since then it’s gone on to become one of the most popular accessory brands this country’s ever produced. Everything, from their website, to their Insta feed, to the beautifully-crafted, blush boxes the pieces come in, is pretty much perfect.
It’s ideal for a gift. Or for yourself. Or both.
MON PURSE

Mon Purse is another stellar Aussie brand that has gone global thanks to their cleverly marketed monogrammed goods. The idea for Mon Purse supposedly struck founder Lana Hopkins when she was in a Build-A-Bear workshop in Bondi Junction back in 2014, and her pieces have been a stalwart in the blogger scene ever since.
The best bit? Not only can you get your initials on a bag; you can design the entire bag, too. Revolutionary.
GOYARD

An OG brand in the monogram game, Goyard is a French trunk and leather goods maker. It’s the oldest leather crafting business on the planet; a whole year older than Louis Vuitton
If you’ve never heard of it before, don’t berate yourself as a surefire member of the great unwashed. They don’t advertise their goods, you can’t purchase online and their pieces are only available in three stores in the whole of the US. Exclusive? Yes. Expensive? …Well, yes.
While this prestige doesn’t come cheap, it’s not absurdly priced. An artisanal crafted, classic tote will set you back around $1520AUD. All monograms are hand-painted.
SMYTHSON

Since 1887Smythson has crafted luxury stationery, leather goods and diaries for a stable of well-heeled clients (the Queen included).
Aside from gilt initialing, they also offer bespoke printing and their most exclusive stationery range includes pieces with 24-carat gilded edges. Gold stationery. I G2G expire now.

Graphic Image is a family owned, New York-based business specialising in a range of personalised leather goods. French goatskin leather luggage tags, slick travel diaries and my personal fave, a baby pink fullgrain leather pocket journal, are just some of their classy offerings. All customisable, monogrammable and/or Instagrammable. Double Bay gift shop Papier D’Amour stock a great selection if you want to see some in the flesh.
