Well, well, well how the turntables: NSW Deputy State Premier John Barilaro’s daughter has been fined for flouting NSW’s COVID restrictions.
NSW police confirmed that Domenica Barilaro (20) was issued a $1000 fine for allegedly travelling from NSW to Sydney and then to the ACT last Friday, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
In a statement, a NSW police force spokesperson said:
“Officers from Monaro Police District have issued a Penalty Infringement Notice (PIN) for failing to comply with direction under the Public Health Act after an alleged breach by a 20-year-old woman.”
“It’s alleged the woman travelled from regional NSW to Sydney then to the ACT, before returning to her home in regional NSW last Friday (9 July 2021).
“She was very helpful and apologetic with police. She has since been issued with the $1000 PIN.”
The $1000 fine is the smallest possible penalty for breaching public health orders. The max being imprisonment for six months and/or a penalty of $11,000.
NSW Deputy police Commissioner Gary Worboys was asked about the breach during a press conference on Friday, who confirmed the news. He says Domenica Barilaro “was considerate of the investigation, was polite and forthcoming, and that infringement notice was issued [to] her”.
The SMH approached John Barilaro’s office for comment.
But it seems like Barilaro has been preoccupied, dodging questions from Sky News reporters.
Yes, Barilaro went out of his way to have a go at Sky News reporter Tom Connell‘s journalistic integrity for asking him (twice) about whether or not he used NSW Police’s counter-terrorism unit in the arrest of YouTuber Friendlyjordies‘ producer.

“I’ve made it clear. I’ve said absolutely not. You shouldn’t be asking that question. It is an indictment on your level of journalism,” said Barilaro.
“You’re just going off remarks by an individual who is, on social media, an abusive individual. All he does is bully people online and that’s what you’re now supporting so good luck to you, Tom.
“It’s unfair for you to continue to ask something that is with the Police. I’m leaving it at that. I’ve answered more than I should have and I’ve been very very forthcoming with you.”
Ah yes, typical politician having a go at others for disobeying the rules…until they do it themselves.
