Teen activist Greta Thunberg has donated USD $100k to the United Nations Children’s Fund.
Thunberg had been awarded the money by Human Act, an organisation which has since matched Thunberg’s donation with an additional USD $100k. Together, they’ve launched a new UNICEF funding campaign amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Very honoured to receive Human Act Award. The prize money – USD 100’000 – will be donated to @unicef . Human Act will match this donation with an additional USD 100,000.

“It will affect all children, now and in the long-term, but vulnerable groups will be impacted the most,” Thunberg stated, via UNICEF. “I’m asking everyone to step up and join me in support of UNICEF’s vital work to save children’s lives, to protect health and continue education.”
“The coronavirus pandemic is the greatest struggle the world has seen in generations,” Henrietta Fore, UNICEF Executive Director, said. “Children and young people are among the most severely impacted by the knock-on effects of COVID-19, so it is only natural that they would want to do something about it.”
Last month, Thunberg revealed she most likely had COVID-19, before urging young folk to be mindful and stay home.
“We who don’t belong to a risk group have an enormous responsibility,” she posted to Instagram, “our actions can be the difference between life and death for many others.”
