5SOS Promote The #StayHome Message By Filming Their Entire New Music Video From Isolation

In years to come, when we look back on the crazy period that was COVID-19 (yes, I say that in past tense because we will beat this), one thing we will always remember is how creative and crafty we were while holed up in our homes, especially the creatives.

While production has grinded to a halt on many TV shows, movies and tours, entertainers are finding new and exciting ways to pump out content from indoors in a way that’s still super engaging.

Take local band 5 Seconds of Summer, for example.

Are they going to let a pandemic stop them from releasing their godly music out into the world? Helllllll no.

The outrageously handsome lads just dropped the music video for their latest bop, ‘Wildflower’, which was filmed entirely on a green screen that was safely delivered to each member’s house, allowing them to self-capture footage.

The footage was then sent back to the band’s creative director and collaborator, Andy DeLuca, who along with Sarah Eisemen, created the end product after many hours of animation and VFX.

Pretty friggen’ cool, right?

The super sick psychedelic vid sees bassist Calum Hood take the vocal reins while the other lads harmonise like the divine angels they are.

The world might be a dark place right now, but 5SOS’ new vid has every single colour of the rainbow swirling ’round like a kaleidoscope and you’ll love every goddamn second of it.

Enjoy:

As a side note, today is Aus Music T-Shirt Day and I’m proudly wearing my 5SOS tee that I purchased at the Meet You There Tour.

Live footage of me changing into the tee immediately after buying it at the concert:

I’ve been waving the 5SOS flag since before I was a journalist and since becoming an entertainment editor, I have had the privilege of interviewing the boys twice and I can confirm that they are the sweetest and most charming dudes, while also being super fun and passionate about their work.

Take, for example, that time when they were totally willing to play a game of Truth or Shot with us:

And here’s my first time meeting them, way back in 2015:
