Tom Holland Reportedly Hit Up Sony & Disney Himself To Get Spider-Man Back In The MCU

Turns out Tom Holland is reportedly part of the reason why Disney and Sony reached a truce, re: Spider-Man being yoinked from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In short, Disney and Sony called it donezo after neither could agree on, well, money. According to the whispers, Disney wanted the third Spider-Man movie to be financed on a 50/50 basis. Sony wasn’t a fan. And in August, it was announced Spider-Man had been yoinked from the MCU.

Then, just a little while ago, the two juggernauts jointly announced that they had reached a new deal, and everything was okay again. Spider-Man was back in the MCU.

“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it,” Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said in a statement to Variety. “Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”

That last bit.

ANYWAY, now sources have told The Hollywood Reporter that Holland himself made “multiple appeals” to not just Feige, but Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger and Sony film chairman Tom Rothman to help encourage a new deal.

KING.

Holland is set to star in the lead role in Sony’s extremely cursed movie Uncharted. I say “cursed” because it is actually in development hell and has somehow lost five directors. Sources told THR that Holland used his Sony role to butter up Rothman, and used his Spider-Man clout to appeal to Iger. And thankfully, it worked.
