Em Rata’s Landlord Says She & Her Millionaire Hubby Have Been Living Rent-Free

Unfairly pretty model/actress Emily Ratajkowski and her actor/producer/millionaire husband, Sebastian Bear-McClard have found themselves in some rent-related legal hot water that simple folk like us would absolutely never find ourselves in, so get ready for a window into the lifestyle of the rich and shameless.

According to the New York Post, the pair have been living rent-free in their New York City apartment via a thing called the Loft Law which the Post describes as a “legal loophole meant to protect struggling artists.”

Despite his millionaire status, Bear-McClard apparently qualifies as a “struggling artist” and has been subletting the loft free of charge since 2013.

However, the building’s landlord is now livid that he reportedly hasn’t paid any rent since the lease ended in 2017, and now owes around $120,000.

And it’s not just the landlord kicking up a stink, apparently the couple’s neighbours are also pissed about the free-loading fellows.

“It’s pathetic,” a man who lives near their Bleecker Street home told the Post. “The idea that one of these wealthy individuals is exploiting the system to save what, for him, is chump change, is a kick in the ass to the people who made Bleecker Street what it is.”

Another artist who lives in the building called Bear-McClard a “double-insult” to the street and told the Post that she wants his ass booted out of the building.

“He’s a moneyman who can easily pay his rent and just chooses not to,” she said.

Bear-McClard’s lawyer Michael Kozek told the publication that his client will be fighting to “save” his home. “He’s an artist,” Kozek said. “Born and raised New Yorker and a child of artists who themselves fought to save their homes, including under the Loft Law.”

Meanwhile, Em Rata’s Insta posts have been flooded with angry comments from punters demanding that she pay her goddamn rent just like the rest of us.
