US Strategic Command Apologises For Tweeting Bizarre NYE Message/Threat

In what is possibly the most American thing in history, the United States Strategic Command has deleted a tweet posted on New Year’s Eve in which they bragged about their willingness and capacity to bomb the fuck out of anyone at the drop of a hat.

Strategic Command, which oversees the launch of the US military’s nuclear weapons, posted a video in the lead-up to midnight that showed a B-2 stealth bomber dropping bombs which exploded on impact with the ground, accompanied by a caption reading: “#TimesSquare tradition rings in the #NewYear by dropping the big ball … if ever needed, we are #ready to drop something much, much bigger.

Just the sort of lovely reminder you want from the only country that has ever used nuclear weapons in combat.

The tweet was deleted three hours later, with an apology posted from the account shortly afterwards:

Our previous NYE tweet was in poor taste & does not reflect our values. We apologize. We are dedicated to the security of America & allies.

What an incredibly strange country.
