Husky Taxi Hotel Transfer Service Is The Number One Reason You Need To Visit Norway

Entrusting to dogs tasks ordinarily performed by humans is a trait unique to Norwegians (see also: catering, foreign policy, midwifery) so it should come as no surprise then that a Husky airport transfer service – the first of its kind! – has been launched to collect you from one of the country’s northernmost airports, Kirkenes, now that you’ve decided to visit Norway solely for reasons of Husky Taxis.
“It was a lot of effort to set up,” pioneering Snowhotel Husky taxi coordinator Tomas Randol has today told The Guardian. “Because we are going through a reindeer area we had to check with the owners so we don’t disturb them, and we had to get permission from the defence services to be able to take the huskies right onto the runway without affecting security at the airport.”
Two passengers can occupy a single sled for the 45-minute ride, and if need be “the hotel will send more dog teams” equipped with all the mod cons to ensure a safe, scenic and comfortable passage; also, a life-sustaining body temperature. “You can land here in a skirt, high heels, whatever and we’ll take care of the warm clothes you need to wear,” adds Randol.
The ride of your life will set you back $417 AUD (“Lets just say you don’t become a millionaire doing husky airport transfers”, concludes Randol). A room at Kirkenes Snowhotel – literally, a frozen hotel made of snow – starts from $446 AUD per person.
