You Can Now Fit 400GB Of Data Onto A MicroSD Card The Size Of A Fingernail

With digital storage constantly becoming smaller and smaller, it was only a matter of time before we got to this point, but that doesn’t make it any less of a mindfuck.

SanDisk announced a 400GB microSD card at Berlin‘s IFA this week, making it the largest microSD card in the world right now. The previous largest clocked in at 250GB.

Now, this all sounds pretty boring, sure, but think about how much shit you can fit on this thing, and then let me remind you that it’s the size of a goddamn fingernail. It’s madness.

To put it in perspective for you, that’s about 200,000 photos (12-megapixel iPhone 7 photos with an average size of 2MB), 100,000 iTunes songs (average size of 4MB), or 88 full HD movies (average size of 4.5GB). That’s digital fucking witchcraft, folks.

If you wanna fill one of these suckers with your hot steamy data, it’ll cost you $250, which isn’t cheap, but if you’re capturing 4K or even 8K footage, it’ll be just what you need.

I mean, that’s it really. It’s a huge amount of storage space crammed into a tiny a tiny card.
