The latest Fortnite update is absolutely packed with goodies, but I think we can all agree that the best new feature is being able to give the flying battle bus driver the thanks they deserve. That’s right, you can now press a button to thank them as you jump out to fight in the world below.

While it’s not explicitly mentioned in the patch notes, various players and Reddit users have pointed out the feature, which simply shows as a message in the bottom left corner of the screen. “[Player] has thanked the bus driver,” it says. If you’re on console, you can give the driver your own heartfelt thanks by pressing down on the d-pad, and if you’re on PC, you can hit ‘B’ on your keyboard.
The fun little feature was actually requested earlier this year via a petition on Change.org, which Epic never really acknowledged until now. “Since I was just a boy I have always loved jumping out of the battle bus, but all this time I have felt something was missing,” the petition reads. “And that thing is the ability to thank the driver of the battle bus, he or she is truly a great person and they provide us a great service, I think it is time we can truly appreciate [their] service, don’t you agree?”
Thanking the bus driver also became a particularly Australian meme not that long ago, which makes the new inclusion seem even more hilariously timely.
Adding cheeky little nods like this to Fortnite is just another way Epic Games is staying ahead of the battle royale curve. I, for one, simply can’t wait to give the battle bus driver my eternal and unyielding gratitude. Thank you, driver.
