Obsidian‘s upcoming space RPG, The Outer Worlds, is gearing up to be one of 2019’s most interesting releases. At PAX East over the weekend, some new footage was shown, revealing dialogue-based gameplay, as well as some interesting weapons.

Taking place within the elite city of Byzantium, the demo showcased a number of interactions, including some dialogue which is yet to be voiced by actors. Some of the response options are pretty funny, including the ability to “remain stoically silent,” or “exude wordless fury,” among others.
But the best part of the whole video is when science weapons are shown, demonstrated with a baton which hilariously shrinks or grows enemy faces when struck. As explained, science weapons are a separate class of weapons which will be powered based on your character’s scientific abilities. They won’t just be melee weapons, either, the presenter says.

The Outer Worlds will also let you customise your companion characters, as shown when old mate fits his companion, Felix, with a weird moon helmet. Great gear.
It looks like Obsidian’s upcoming game will hit that RPG sweet spot fans of the Fallout series have been waiting for. There’s no solid release date just yet, but The Out Worlds is due out at some point later this year on both the Microsoft Store and the Epic Games store.
Psst, oi, you wanna buy some GTA 5 mods? Just kidding, they’re free.
