GTA 5 has been out for quite a while now. In fact, it was first released on the PS3 and Xbox One all the way back in 2013, but that doesn’t mean it sucks by today’s standards. It’s actually quite the opposite: it still kicks so much ass.
Since the Rockstar title hit PC, modders have been creating all kinds of weird, wacky, and useful GTA 5 mods, which is a great way to experience it again. Whether you just wanna make it look nicer, or whether you’re keen to make its pedestrians your Pokémon, there’s definitely a mod out there just for you.
A quick note before we proceed: if you play GTA Online, make sure you DON’T install mods which affect it because it could result in you copping a ban. Some of them can be a little tricky to get running, as well, so if you need a hand, you should be able to find plenty of guides – like this one – floating around.
Here are eight of the weirdest GTA 5 mods getting around right now.
Ok, this one isn’t exactly weird, but it’s definitely useful. Natural Vision Remastered essentially gives GTA 5 a fresh coat of paint, jacking up the textures to wildly detailed levels. In other words, it makes the game look closer to current titles.
You can check out a trailer for it below.
Pretty slick, huh? Just keep in mind that you’ll probably need a fairly beefy computer to run something like this.
As the name suggests, this bad boy will take you to space and beyond. After completing a series of objectives, you’ll eventually get to ride a big-ass space shuttle into space and even fly to Mars, just like Elon Musk.
When you get there, you have to fight a bunch of aliens, which I’m sure you’ll agree is pretty badass. You can have a look at a different mission below which involves going to the Moon.
Australian Cops Mod
Believe it or not, there’s a group of people who like to roleplay as emergency services via GTA 5 mods, and the actual police aren’t thrilled about it.
Either way, the skins for this are pretty impressive, which you can see in the video below. The player model even has a police uniform.
Like it says on the tin, this GTA 5 mod is packed full of wacky vehicles like jetskis with wheels, flying boats, driving toilets, and more. They come in two different packs, so there’s sure to be enough there to keep you busy for hours.
Have a look at some of them in action below.
If you’ve ever wanted to play Pokémon inside GTA 5, but catch pedestrians instead of monsters, this is the mod for you.
After weakening them, you can toss a Pokéball at pretty much anyone in the game to catch them, and if they’re weak enough, they become yours. You can make them fight for you, too. Classic gear.
Check out some footage below.
Wanna maul the everloving fuck out of people as the cast of The Lion King? You’re in luck. The Lion King pack lets you play as Simba (both young and adult), Timon, Pumba, Nala, Scar, and more.
I, for one, can’t wait to knock over a bank as a tiny Timon carrying an enormous assault rifle.
The Ped Riot Mode is a script which will give all the pedestrians in your game weapons and make the really pissed off. I’m sure you can imagine what happens next in this scenario, but there’s a video below if you’d like to see it in action.
The Vehannon Mod lets you literally shoot vehicles instead of bullets out of your gun. You can shoot cars, trucks, and all sorts of wild things from an variety of weapons.
See it in action below if you’re keen.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to GTA 5 mods, folks, there are literally hundreds, probably thousands of them. If you wanna browse some more, a heap of them are available here.
