Set Your Watches, Because There’s A Date For Apple’s iPhone 8 Announce

Contributor: Pedestrian

It was rumoured in the past, but you’ve probably got a date you can punch into your calendar: it looks like Apple‘s long-anticipated iPhone event this year is going down on September 12th.

That’s according to TechCrunch and the Wall Street Journal, both of whom tend to be pretty accurate about this kind of stuff.

It’s expected that the centrepiece of this event will be the announcement of three iPhones – a 7s and 7s Plus, which will be updated versions of the existing handset, and the iPhone 8. The iPhone 8 is expected to be an entirely new, bezel-free design and a very nice OLED display.

We’re also likely to see a new 4K Apple TV, and a new Apple Watch – remember those? – which will probably include inbuilt 4G connectivity. No doubt we’ll also hear a little more about the HomePod, Apple’s answer to the home speaker / assistant market.

Though the notoriously secretive company has been a pretty leaky ship ahead of this announcement, it’s safe to say that there’ll probably be a surprise or two bundled in.

The date might change, and Apple likes to keep it close to their chest in case something happens and they need to change it, but its highly likely it’ll be going down on the 12th. If you’re a dweeb, you’ll probably be waking up at 3am or whatever ungodly hour it’ll be live broadcast in Australia.
