Facebook Is Importing Insta Stories ‘Cos Seriously, Nobody Is Using Theirs

While Instagram‘s Stories feature is still popular amongst users, its addition to Facebook has gone over like a wet biscuit. In short, nobody fucking uses it.

And why would they? It’s rare enough that folks take the time to do both a Snapchat and Instagram Story, let alone a third one. Nobody has that kinda time.

But now some Instagram users are reporting the new ability to share their Stories across Facebook, allowing them to put the same posts in two places.

According to those with access to the feature, you’ll know that a post has come from Insta because it’ll be marked underneath the poster’s name, as you can see above.

It’s an interesting play by the social media overlords, but it makes sense given the massive advertising opportunities in having a Stories feature on their OG platform.

While it may raise the number of stories by a little bit, it probably won’t make any lasting difference, simply because no one’s compelled to go to Facebook for that kind of content. Now that it’s simply re-posting content from Instagram, users have probably already watched it there before they even get to Facebook.

There’s also nothing that differentiates Facebook’s Stories from Instagram’s. If you want my opinion, they should be spending more time creating a point of difference across the platforms rather than just linking them. Make me want to use it, you know?

At the end of the day, this is merely a test, so it may not even become a full feature at all, which is probably for the best. Unless you’re that one guy in everyone’s friends list that creates an FB Story every day. There’s always one.
