Another day, another new Instagram feature. Today, the Facebook-owned platform is introducing music into stories, allowing you to add tracks inside the app rather than having to awkwardly time your recording while you have Spotify blaring through your shitty phone speakers.
It’s the first time Insta has added it’s own music feature and will rollout to certain countries first before eventually landing globally. Luckily for us, Australia is one of those early countries, along with the US, UK, New Zealand, France, Germany, and Sweden.
To use the feature, head on over to your stories camera, take a photo or video, then tap on the sticker button and select the music sticker. If you’re running an iOS device, you can choose a song before you take a picture or video by swiping along to Music at the bottom of the screen.
You’ll be able to search for a specific tune or simply choose from a list of popular ones or moods which, once added, will play automatically when folks watch your story, complete with a little sticker of the album cover they’ll be able to tap on for song details. You’ll even be able to select the exact part of the song you want to play if you’re trying to capture some kind of ultra-specific song mood.
I can’t access the feature from the latest version of the Instagram app just yet, so I assume it’ll take a day or so to rollout. Once it does, expect every Instagram story you watch to get real loud until the novelty wears off.
