The original StarCraft is an undeniable classic. Not only did it sell incredibly well, it became one of the biggest eSports titles ever.
And the praise is worthy, friends, this game is a fucking belter. You do not know fear until you’ve seen a hoard of Zerg charging towards an unfortified entrance to your base. Always build additional pylons.
Released in 1998, the game looks dated as all hell, but rather than letting it fade into the darkness, Blizzard have decided to give it a ride into 2017. That’s right, StarCraft and it’s expansion, Brood War are getting a HD remaster.

The remaster will feature refreshed audio along with 4K support. As you’d expect, the game will be supported by the Blizzard App, giving the advantage of proper matchmaking for your skill level.
The original versions of both StarCraft and Brood War will be available to download for free towards the end of this month and will also be compatible with the remastered versions for online play and your dated AF saved games.
StarCraft: Remastered will be released this winter, but has not yet been given a price.
