Uniqlo Will Be In Australia By 2013

And the global High Street invasion continues. “Retailers, please invade us” – Australia. Prompted by the success of fast fashion peers Topshop and Zara, Japanese retail giant Uniqlo have confirmed a move Down Under by 2013 at the latest. Tadashi Yanai, one of the richest men in Japan and President of parent company Fast Retailing, confirmed the expansion in an interview with The Australian earlier this week.

“We would like to get into the Australian market. Hopefully by 2012, if not then by 2013 at the latest,” Yanai said. “We have already started market research for Australia, although the business plan is not yet confirmed…We will be there as soon as possible. If we are going to be there, it is going to be a huge scale.”

Ready the water canon. Again.
