Sydney’s First Uniqlo Store Announced


Orderly Japanese fast-fashion giant Uniqlo has announced its first Sydney flagship store after testing the waters with a pop up shop on Pitt Street this month.

“Australians have really embraced UNIQLO and its ‘LifeWear’ philosophy, both in Melbourne and through the online store. Opening in Sydney was always the next logical expansion across the Australian market,” said UNIQLO Australia CEO Shoichi Miyasaka. “Our focus on and commitment to providing exemplary customer service has held us in good stead – and we are looking forward to offering Sydneysiders the full UNIQLO experience in store.” 

Sydney’s first Uniqlo store and the second in the country following the launch of a store in Melbourne last month will open its doors on MidCity, Pitt Street in Sydney’s CBD. The planned launch date is as yet unknown but is expected to fall sometime during Spring/Summer. The store will be a premium large-scale retail outlet with a sales floor of nearly 1,485 square metres spanning the entire first floor of the MidCity shopping centre, carrying men’s, women’s, children’s and baby apparel as well as the UNIQLO Spring / Summer ‘14 collection, including premium linen, polos, and the brand’s AIRism range.

WIth rapid retail expansion expected and chief executive officer of parent company Fast Retailing Tadashi Yanai previously stating that “You have 20 million population in this marketplace, and we aim for one store per 200,000 people, so 100 stores will be just enough to cover it” – expect more to come soon.
