Designing Winter fashion is much more challenging than the warmer seasons. The temperature means the parameters of creativity are a lot stricter: you gotta keep warm, but there’s a fine line between keeping suitably snug and wearing a doona. Cult label Stolen Girlfriends Club hails from Auckland so designers Luke Harwood, Dan Gosling and Marc Moore are no stranger to the fine balance of staying warm while looking cool.
Titled ‘Here Lies The Bones’ the street-meets-chic Autumn/Winter 2012 collection peddles a textural tossed salad: chunky knits mingle with delicate lace transparency, signature printed denim, faux fur and leather. It’s nice to see a chill in the air hasn’t put the brakes on the brand’s trademark irreverence – the cable knit woolen short shorts, for example, are suitably outrageous.
