I get a LOT of my fashion inspiration from Instagram influencers – the dodgy ones who can barely put an outfit together are long gone, replaced with chic, stylish types who find all the niche brands making cool threads. Like Saroka, a Melbourne-based boutique label with a focus on sustainability and inclusive style.

You’ve probably seen Saroka’s Rommy top on your Instagram – it feels like every influencer with a chic, minimalist aesthetic is copping one these days. And with good reason – it’s a very cute top that suits a wide range of body types.

Founded in 2015 by Melinda Andaloro, Saroka’s focus is slow fashion – they only drop two collections a year with a small range of items, but a diverse range of sizes (6-16). Each garment is handmade to order in Melbourne, which helps the brand to eliminate fabric and stock wastage.
But it’s the Rommy top that’s really taken off – the off-shoulder linen piece features a corset-like bodice that’s cropped to sit perfectly with some high-waisted denim or a silk slip.

It’s likely because the style works whether you’ve got boobs, no boobs, if you like showing cleavage, if you like to lock it down… you can kind of re-work it however you like.

The Rommy top comes in five colours – white, black, pastel pink, dusky pink and pale blue. It’s $180, and available via the Saroka website here.
