French wig designer Charlie Le Mindu has created a stir at London Fashion Week after sending naked models down the catwalk for his Spring Summer 2011 show. Famous for his next-level avant garde approach to wig design, it’s probable Le Mindu had requested his models leave the rest of the body free of hair so as not to detract from his creations – which are favoured by the oft-wigged Lady Gaga.
Exposed breasts are hardly a new addition to fashion week with heaps of nip slips, sheer tops and Hussein Chalayan’s vag-revealing 1997 collection ‘Burka’. What’s interesting is how the definition of fashion has evolved to be a much more inclusive club – underwear as outer wear, the renaissance of plus-size models, hair as accessories… Good times we’re living in.
