Jak&Jil And Style Bubble Heading To RAFW

Rosemount Australian Fashion Week doesn’t kick off until May, but to jump on the wave of media excitement generated by L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (is that even a partially accurate statement?) – RAFW have announced a couple of international stars of the Blog World who will head to our shores for the event: Tommy Ton – the increasingly high-profile Canadian photographer and fashion fetishist behind street style blog Jak & Jil, and Susanna Lau AKA Susie Bubble – the macaroon loving London-based lady behind Style Bubble.

The confirmation of their attendance came via the Information Super Highway earlier this morning:

During the last collections season in New York, London, Milan and Paris we noted the overwhelming presence of bloggers among the audience of the major shows – and in the front row no less! – so naturally the major Australian fashion event planners would want to follow suit. It’s a clever publicity strategy too. According to statistics on Alexa Internet: Website Information, Style Bubble currently receives over 500,000 page impressions per month, and Jak&Jil averages around 1 million. That’s a pretty amazing reach to achieve for the cost of a first class plane ticket and appearance fee*.

There’s also whispers of some huge (some might even say super) models planning a visit to Australia to walk for a Sydney-based streetwear label during RAFW. Watch this space for updates as the information comes in.

*This is pure speculation – we have absolutely no idea what Lau or Ton are being paid to appear and if they are at all.
