Miranda Kerr Unveils New Qantas Uniforms

Qantas are back in black.

The Australian airline’s new uniforms designed by Melbourne-born, Paris-based designer Martin Grant were unveiled at a runway presentation at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney this morning, ushering in a sharp new look for the Spirit of Australia which appears to draw heavily from 60’s espionage films.

Grant designed 35 pieces to be worn by Qantas flight attendants and ground crew, creating vintage-feeling garments rendered in classic silhouettes (including a Dick Tracy hat and trench coat combo) and accented by diagonal blocks of red, orange and fuchsia.

Ambassadors Cate Blanchett, Kate Ceberano and Neil Perry were all in attendance to nod in approval.

Model Miranda Kerr, who headlined the runway presentation, called the uniforms “comfortable, stylish and chic”.

Take a better look at the uniforms below and take a moment to get used to wondering whether Qantas flight attendants are smuggling handguns on board.
