Meet The First Same Sex Couple From Australia To Get Married In New Zealand

Man, WHY is it so dusty in here?

Today in a thing likely to make you feel other things (emotions): Pedestrian was fortunate enough to meet, interview and attend the history-making wedding of Australian same-sex couple, Paul McCarthy and Trent Kandler

The historic ceremony was held last weekend in Wellington after the couple won a Tourism New Zealand competition inviting same-sex Australian couples to win their dream wedding and celebrate the first day of the Marriage Amendment Act passed this year in New Zealand to legally recognise marriage between gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual and intersex couples.

“It’s that feeling of equality, Paul explains. “You don’t know you are without that until it is granted to you.”

The Novocastrian couple who first met through friends and have been together for over a decade talk us through their first impressions of each other, their first date and the special bond they formed when Trent was diagnosed with cancer.

Why should anyone be denied this? (Answer: they shouldn’t).

PS: Dear Australia, you are the greatest country in the world but your stance on gay marriage is a fucking disgrace. Please fix this immediately.
