Julia Nobis: Australia’s next big thing

Julia Nobis is the newest 5ft 11, fresh-faced, ethereal Aussie beauty to catch the eye of the big hitters in the fashion world. After being signed to Priscillas Model Management straight out of school, Nobis was featured in a major editorial spread for Russh Magazine. Her shots were then sent to Calvin Klein, who booked her exclusively for his New York show.

Frockwriter claimed that “In modelspeak, Calvin Klein Collection is a queenmaker” and that Nobis is amongst only two other Aussie models, Gemma Ward and Abbey Lee Kershaw, to have walked its runways before. Neither Ward or Kershaw were exclusives.

Nobis was originally tipped by influential, New York casing agent, Michelle Lee, to be the model to watch. A hunch that was confirmed when she was cast in runway shows for designers like Richard Nicol, Pringle, Christopher Kane, and Burberry.

Nobis’s classic, unaffected look is a designer’s dream, and although everyone is aware of the short shelf-life that comes with the modeling industry, we’re sure that she wont be disappearing anytime soon.

Tomorrow night at 7pm; 6am Friday morning E.S.T time, Nobis will walk for Prada, who will again stream their womenswear show live from their website. An exciting little venture for all of us who aren’t Bob Geldof’s spoilt offspring, and have therefore never been front row at an International designer show.
