Julia & Bambi Tipped For New York Fashion Week

In the lead up to New York fashion week, New York Times fashion writer blogger Cathy Horyn has published her predictions of the new runway faces to watch out for come September 9, including two Australian girls Bambi Northwood-Blyth and Julia Nobis. Horyn writes, “Now that we’re practically on a first-name basis with Doutzen, Lakshmi and Anja, it’s time we meet Bambi, Fei Fei and Kat. They are some of the new and almost-like-new faces we’ll be seeing next week at the New York fashion shows.”

Julia turned up in a couple of Autumn/Winter shows and has been getting a tonne of international editorial already – as well as booking a campaign with Burberry, but Bambi will be making her New York catwalk debut and it seems the 19-year-old Sydney-based model has become a favourite of casting director Ashley Brokaw (whose NY clients include Proenza Shouler, Narciso Rodriguez and Rag and Bone).

Horyn had spoken to Brokaw who revealed that high on [her] list are Bambi Northwood-Blyth, Melodie at Wilhelmina, Caroline Brasch Neilsen, Fei Fei Sun and Julia Nobis. All these girls have great personality and manners. They’re impressive in person.”

Of Ms. Nobis, who is a bit of a tomboy, she said, “You can picture her leaving a casting and jumping on her skateboard.”

New York fashion week begins on 9 September, kicking off a month of Spring/Summer collection shows across the fashion capitals.
