HALSTON F/W 09 VIDEO CAMPAIGN

Oh, to run perfectly tousled through the Carrie Bradshaw-esque sidewalks of New York in a flowing gown while high heels fall from the sky… Halston paints a pretty picture through their F/W 09 Collection video (aka the wet dream of fashion cognoscenti worldwide – regardless of the real life possibility of falling, much like a few models on the Herve Leger Fall 09 runway, if trying to re-enact the video while on your way to work grooving to your iPod tunes).

Foregoing a fashion show this season, the fabulous yet mysterious fashion house of Halston presented their F/W 09 Collection via video, emailing it to editors and retailers. Creator of the three minute video, Nez Khammel, shot the brand’s muse, Dree Hemmingway on a trip around New York among brightly hued garments, studded jumpsuits and a fabulous floor-length sequined coat that make up the vibrant new collection.

Other labels to have taken on video campaigns in lieu of a runway show include YSL for their Resort 09 collection, The Row (this video is marvelous) and the omnipresent Victoria Beckham. Viral video campaigns seem to be the way of the future and a sure way to cut hefty costs that runway shows incur – but as ethereal as these videos are, once the old FC slows, I hope these players don’t dismiss the theatrics. As the old maxim expresses, †the show must go on!’

In the meantime, feast your eyes on the charming Halston video…
