Ellery Launches FW11 Campaign and New Website

A fictional family of child prodigies meet the notoriously self-indulgent queen of France. These eccentric influences – The Royal Tenenbaums and Marie Antoinette – form the basis for Ellery’s FW11 collection, Tenenbaums In The Tuileries. This doesn’t mean two-piece tracksuits and 18th century Belle Poule wigs so stop worrying and start enjoying Ellery’s ironic sense of humour and mind-blowing flares.

The lookbook, shot in Château de Champlâtreux outside of Paris, provides the perfect backdrop to decidedly decadent garments. There is no better model than gap-toothed Texan Ashely Smith to portray Ellery’s regal remake of Wes Anderson’s kooky protagonists. Brocades and silks are paired with luxe sportswear, jersey and exposed zips; royal red and metallics fearlessly conquer a muted palette.

Ellery recongises the strengths of previous collections and plays on these: sculpted shoulders, boxy dresses, Lafayette armour sleeves and statement pants. Last season’s highly popular lucite heels see a rebirth in bootie form. Signature spiked belts channel Mario Kart villain, Bowser, and are the ‘I could literally kill you’ kind of fierce.

Today also marks the launch of Ellery’s new website. A dangerously accessible online shop makes it a little too easy to purchase current, exclusive and archival pieces. An online style diary allows a pleasantly perverted glimpse into designer Kym Ellery’s personal life, inspirations and creative endeavors. All in all, a website with an appeal as international as the clothes themselves.
