Ellery “Homoerotic Post-Punk Soft P0rn” Lookbook

The Spring 2011 collection from Perth-born designer Kim Ellery’s label ELLERY may be her least Google-friendly – but it’s absolutely her most interesting, most progressive collection yet.

The wide ranging influences that inspired the collection are all over the place: Roald Dahl’s “Fantastic Mr Fox; baseball icons Joe DiMaggio and Babe Ruth have garments named after them; and Cali band Best Coast. Fabrics range from metallic lurex knits to leather to corduroy, Leopard print, cashmere, silk and chambray. The colour gradient slides from the hottest white to jet black on an ankle length coat, and the varying converging themes include a sharp sterile futurist aesthetic, classic rock and roll (check the flares), and French boudoir romane, and yet the collection somehow comes together in a cohesive, wearable way.

There’s really a lot to like in this collection (including some fantastic shoes) which was shot by photographer Daniel Nadel.
