Luke Sales and Anna Plunkett of Sydney label Romance Was Born didn’t invent crochet (obviously) but as Australian InFront noted earlier this year, they may have provided the inspiration for Paul Smith’s off the shoulder crochet number.

The crochet prototype originally appeared in Romance Was Born’s SS 09/10 collection “Doilies & Pearls, Oysters & Shells” and now it appears that Smith is not the only designer to have drawn inspiration from the kooky twosomes Nana-channeling designs. Sales and Plunkett’s collection also featured a crochet print which was used across board shorts, bags and cardigans and a similar crochet print features in the newest collection of sleepwear overlord Peter Alexander. Inspiration or coincidence?
